Music Review – “Tomorrow Is Christmas Morning” by Katie Garibaldi

“Tomorrow Is Christmas Morning” Tomorrow Is Christmas Morning is delightfully written in the spirit of Christmas. It was eady for last year’s festivities and it’s coming around again, ready for St. Nic in 2017! The lyircs are beautiful and they help to set the entire scene and mood of the track, along with the well-recorded and well-produced instrument tracks. There are the typical jingling instruments that you would expect from a good christmas track and the strings sections help to make it sound just as great as some of the more well-known Christmas songs. It even starts and ends with...

Music Review – “Have Faith” by Rika-Rai (feat. Jenn-Jenn)

Facebook Instagram Twitter Youtube “Have Faith” (Feat. Jenn-Jenn) The perfect musical balance. Delicate at times yet ferocious at others. Have Faith. The next release by R&B / Hip-Hop artist Rika-Rai, is her best to date. Although social profiles tell a story of little connection, there is a brewing intensity in her music that is NOT about to end. I can see Rika-Rai gaining some serious traction with this song. If she can crack the code for social media growth by marketing the music effectively, I believe she may open many doors for herself in the music industry in the few months...

Music Review – “The Starz” by Blow_Flyy

Facebook Twitter Youtube “The Starz” Hip-Hop The production, more specifically the mastering, of the track is excellent. Plenty of the EQ frequencies are taken by different tracks and it’s easy to pick each of them out. But… When I first heard The Starz by Blow_Flyy, I initially thought the mix of the track was slightly off, just because the vocals were quieter than the music. After multiple listens, I think it’s treading a fine line. The vocals are audible, but only if the listener’s settings are altered to “mid-boost” (which is the round-about frequency that the vocals are covering, just a...

Music Review – “Scarborough Fair” by Shauna Burns

Facebook Twitter Instagram Youtube “Scarborough Fair” Elegant and genius. Shauna Burns has outdone herself with this majestic cover of an old English traditional. Tranquility meets celtic in this Scarborough Fair. The piano parts are simply elegant. The note choices and the piano’s tone is perfect for creating a suitable atmosphere. I’ve heard a few harpists in my time but none who are quite as good with timing as the person who recorded the part for Shauna, here. Very impressive and professional. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the clear Kate Bush inspiration. If it’s unintentional, it’s a fair-sized coincidence...

Music Review – “Lightning” by Amilia K Spicer

“Lightning” Powerful and atmospheric. Lightning is host to plenty of vocal harmonies and atmospheric ambience. The mise en scene is painted by the production of the track, the exceptional vocal displays and the talented musicianship of all of the instrumentalists involved. The introduction submerges you in the track with beautifully played percussion and a mid-high drone note slowly drifting in to the entering of the piano. Amilia’s vocals are coolly executed at such a surprisingly low pitch to begin with. As the track goes by, there are some awesome, slightly distorted guitar chords which run behind the piano and...
